Whimsy of York

York offered so much for us to observe, so much to enjoy.   Set along the river Ouse, we visited
"The Shambles," tiny, windy cobblestone streets lined with shops (and the inspiration for JK Rowling's Diagon Alley!) I am in love with the red doors and markets, where I buy a specialized pack of spices at Raffi's Spice Box and score on three books for a few coins at the flea market. The incline of the cobblestone makes it tough of the young ladies (who are already leaving the pubs at 3:00 pm) to walk flawlessly down the road. They become caricatures and add to York's whimsy. The York Minster is breathtaking and worthy of a rest along the cobblestone to stop and soak it all in.  After dinner, we park it in a wine bar and enjoy the world floating by...
